Aref Ghorbani is an Iranian-born, classically trained vocalist who made Scotland his home in 2018. Since then, he has been a passionate advocate for those looking for sanctuary, also refugee and asylum-seeking musicians and been working as facilitator of Musicians in Exile, a community project initiated by The Glasgow Barons. In recognition of his impactful work, Aref, alongside Musicians in Exile, was honored with the National Diversity Award and an EPIC Award in Scotland in 2019. Aref's musical collaborations with Scottish artists have graced various festivals, including Refugee Festival Scotland, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival, the Mela Festival, and the Solas Festival.
Calum Ingram, a devoted cellist since the age of nine, has found his unique voice by intertwining his cello strings. Influenced by the likes of Peter Gabriel, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Jack White, and John Martyn, Calum brings a fresh and eclectic approach to his craft. As part of the Musicians in Exile project and since 2018, Calum was also collaborating with Aref and musicians around the world, those who made Scotland their home. Together, they have performed at various events, breaking down cultural barriers through their music and nowadays blending Western and Iranian traditional music seamlessly. Excited about their journey, Aref and Calum eagerly anticipate performing at more festivals and further exploring the harmonious fusion of their musical backgrounds with diverse communities.
