Frank Notes: We're going to think about protest

I found it intriguing over the weekend to see the first signs of protests on the streets of US cities (no, I'm not referring to the Tartan Week parades in NYC).  Who knows where these will lead.  Here in the UK, it has felt for years like, no matter who is out on the streets protesting, no one is being heard, no one is noticing.  It's easy to think it's all the fault of those who should be listening.  But maybe we are not saying things in the right way.

We're going to explore that idea at Solas this year. We're going to think about protest. With the help of I Am Loud, some [very] loud poets who know a thing or two about getting themselves heard, we're going to think about using all aspects of our creativity to get across what we want to say.  With a morning participative workshop, an evening main stage blast from the experts and a late-night open mic when we can dare to test our craft, we stand every chance of returning home better equipped to draw attention to the cause(s) on our hearts.  And even if we don't, we will have had a ball giving it a go.
