SOLAS FESTIVAL 2025 WORSHIP PROPOSAL CALLOUT
The theme for Solas Festival 2025 will be “Rest and Be Thankful”. Building on the success of what we did in 2023 and 2024, we would like to include as part of the festival programme a creative act of Christian worship. Solas is not a religious gathering, but it is rooted in the Christian tradition of faith and community, and we would like to create an opportunity for festivalgoers who would appreciate a moment over the weekend to dig into that tradition together; seeking, sharing and hoping in something bigger than ourselves in ways which allow us to be truly human. Recent years’ experience indicated how popular this can be.
Proposals are sought from anyone who would be interested in leading on drawing this together. We are looking particularly for an event which explores the potential for the expression of creativity and imagination in the 21st century church, encourages active participation from those present and is delivered in collaboration between more than one church or group. We would expect the event to be consistent with the values of the festival, facilitating Christian worship without making assumptions as to the background of those who attend.
A budget of £500 would be available for the successful applicant.
If you are interested, please send to chris [at] solasfestival.co.uk by the 15th of May 2025 a brief note of no more than 300 words describing the key features of the act of worship and who would be involved in delivering it.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of your application in the meantime, please email Chair of the Solas Festival Board, Frank Strang, at strang991[at] btinternet.com.
